We women have a lot to learn about simplifying our lives. We have to decide what is important and then move along at a pace that is comfortable for us. We have to develop the maturity to stop trying to prove something. We have to learn to be content with what we are." ~Marjorie Pay Hinckley~

Celebrating 5th Annual Family Day

Today 5 years ago we were in the Sacramento temple with all of our family, where Lukas was sealed to us. We visited the San Diego temple today to remember and look through Lukas' book of sealing pictures. :)  Then we usually take off and go somewhere fun. In Davis, we used to hit Apple Hill. This year it's Sea World.

Thanksgiving 2014

As per tradition since moving to S.D., we start Thanksgiving morning with Diamond Donuts, then head to the field where we all play football. I usually get a few throws in, and avoid getting tackled at all costs. It's awesome when the youth show up and play too. It's so beautiful here, the weather is usually warm, and it's a gorgeous morning outside while turkey is in the oven... or crock pot. Lukas and Jared both despise pumpkin pie, so I'm thinking next year I should really break down and make em Apple Strudel for Thanksgiving.  As tradition dictates, the Christmas Tree goes up on Thanksgiving Day. And usually we rock out to Christmas music while we build it, light it, and decorate it. I do the finishing touches on the tree and tell memories of the ornaments as they dive into cookies and cocoa. The little boy in the pictures at our table is Lukas' buddy Jacob, who showed up to play, so we invited him to eat with us. Apparently they don't really celebrate Thanksgiving. Or Christmas for that matter. Yes, they're Christians, and nope, not Jehovah's witnesses. I've been to their house for a drinking party (me, horchata) but not holidays. Anyways, the more the merrier.

Lint Trapper

He's such a hardworking little man. He voluntarily cleaned out every lint trap in the laundry room. He's going to be a great husband some day.
