We women have a lot to learn about simplifying our lives. We have to decide what is important and then move along at a pace that is comfortable for us. We have to develop the maturity to stop trying to prove something. We have to learn to be content with what we are." ~Marjorie Pay Hinckley~

The Life

This was us last night at the pool, finishing dinner & roasting pineapple after having spent most of the day there earlier. Talking with neighbors about some neighborhood drama. Guy climbed into a window while girl taking a nap...creepy! Lukas & I talked about the joy of deadbolts & boards in Window tracks before bed.
And I reminisced later (to myself...seriously would not tell these to my 5 yr old) about the house on Gambrell Street and how all the neighbors gathered -some with rifles, it being Texas and all- to go investigate a possible burglar in the house next door. That's when I remember learning the life lesson about holding a flashlight out to the side so that when a person shoots at the light they won't hit your body. Tense times, people. Tense times.
And that other time when the guy in the ally way had his rifle out, it being Texas and all, because the boys had thrown rocks from their backyard fort across the alley way and hit his kids. I walked into the kitchen and mom told me to get down. We crouched on the floor peeking out the kitchen windows, which were long and tall & low to the floor, it being Texas and all, watching him & waiting for him to leave the alley.
The same alley that those Cramer boys used to race their cars down, it being Texas and all. Heaven knows plenty of "slow down!"s and bowling balls were thrown their way.
So I think of these things when we look for neighborhoods and think, ahh, it can't be thaaat bad. Lol

BEST DRINK EVER: Mmmmm. Thank you Sea World! Pineapple and its juice mixed with ice cream. a.MAZ.ing.
