We women have a lot to learn about simplifying our lives. We have to decide what is important and then move along at a pace that is comfortable for us. We have to develop the maturity to stop trying to prove something. We have to learn to be content with what we are." ~Marjorie Pay Hinckley~

Take Me out to the End of Summer July 3rd Ballgame

The Mathis Family has a tradition of playing baseball every July 3rd, the night before fireworks. Excited to have something outside, fun, and casual to do with Lukas while still just the two of us, off we went! Lukas was super duper excited to see juice boxes and blow pops. Oh my. And he got to play in his first baseball game! James Ansell was his batting coach, base coach, AND angel in the outfield! I have the video too, but when I pop fly went out towards third base, James bent his body over Lukas to keep him safe, then resumed normal play. That's a good Marine for ya. We sure are glad he and his wife are in our ward! It was a perfect summer night. All the kids running around together, warm breeze floating by, and a beautiful sunset over a baseball field. Just like in movies. That arm picture is for posterity when I'm 80 years old, about to die, and am at another baseball game with families. Because when you're 80 people are often more impressed about things you used to be able to do than what you can actually do now. :)
