We women have a lot to learn about simplifying our lives. We have to decide what is important and then move along at a pace that is comfortable for us. We have to develop the maturity to stop trying to prove something. We have to learn to be content with what we are." ~Marjorie Pay Hinckley~

First Father Son Campout

So giddy to go camping together these two rode off in a cloud of laughter, rainbows and sunshine. SO cute. Both so proud of getting to hang out with the other in such a coming-of-age-event. The Father/Son Campout. Lukas dutifully helped pack the car. All the necessary comforts for one night of camping near the beach. Bratwursts, sticks, marshmallows... check! That night someone made dutch oven dessert and as Jared went to get some for Lukas he saw that the 'big boys' had already taken care of him. Eli, Jared, and some other big boys took Lukas under their wing. Lukas later excitedly explained, "Mama! Wir haben secret agency gespielt!!" (We played secret agency!) He loves hanging out with big boys, and nothing makes a mama heart happier than hearing that other kids were kind to my son and let him play with them. And made sure he had dessert from the Dutch Oven!! Lukas got to play in the ocean a little before crashing for the night, giddy to have a sleep over with dad... without any girls. So you can imagine his panic when I showed up with Ron and David Woody, driving their suburban to drop them off (since they weren't otherwise going, and I visit teach the mom). But I left quickly and manliness was restored. Haha!
