This massive contraption had me jumping every time it'd spit out some long blast of steam at random increments. What I realized though, was that canning beans is insanely easy, with ol' time machine around. Just soaked em overnight in water, put them in jars with some hot water, put lids on, stack in machine and wha-la! The machine cooks the beans and sealed the jars. And now I have lots of black beans without the added salt, or the weird stuff I can't say. The artisan bread is the product of one night at a Relief Society Provident Living Night. The "Bread People" from Fallbrook came and I figured if I could come home and make bread, that would be like performing a miracle, and maybe the pope would find cause for sainthood. Probably not, but the boys would be excited. And they were. P.S... no Le Cruset pot? Not a problem! Just Put a regular old metal pot over the bread dough on the cookie sheet instead. Eat that $90 Le Cruset Pot!
