We women have a lot to learn about simplifying our lives. We have to decide what is important and then move along at a pace that is comfortable for us. We have to develop the maturity to stop trying to prove something. We have to learn to be content with what we are." ~Marjorie Pay Hinckley~

Through Good Times and Bad

Our little reader loves- and I mean LOVES- the library. Yeah, the books are great and all, and he can't get enough of the new books... once we're home. At the library though he can't get enough of the computers (I'm thinking sometimes-- why do they shoot themselves in the foot??). There's this story he watches most of the time from Mercer Mayer called Grandma & Me, which is cool since it's read in German with German text. Pretty cool!! Now he's discovered Sesame Street via library computer game, and thinks Guy Smiley (yes, you remember him! HA!) and those silly monster guys are the bees knees, and with headphones on, he has no idea how LOUD his laughing is ECHOING through the whole half of the library.

But then Beanie started getting sick. (Probably those shooting-themselves-in-the-foot-computers, right?... and maybe because of this one day when I helped Jared run an airport simulation for two classes at opposite ends of the day, and had a Stake Training that night, which was Jared's Back-to-School Night, thus poor Lukas Pantz was at three different babysitters playdates in one day.  No wonder that he began that next evening puking his little cute guts out, right into my hands... while sitting on my bed.  I'm good for only as long as I don't breathe. Poor Lukas at least was a trooper. Last time he had such a bout with a stomach bug was seemingly ages ago, and he kept asking why he had Throw up Poop! Poor kid.

He got a good trade out of it. A lot of reading and  Mister Rogers to keep him still... and predictable. That can was a lifesaver at least 3 times.

The next day, of course, after being up all night, he was just as fine and chipper as could be. I still had a fever, but we were all a little sick-of-the-cabin, so I went and had chills on the beach while Lukas ran around- completely happy, while I sat bundled in sweaters, watching the powerful waves coming in after the hurricane had hit New Orleans again back east.  The swells we up to the tops of the jetties and the water was pulling pretty hard. Good thing my ocean boy runs away from the water :)
