We women have a lot to learn about simplifying our lives. We have to decide what is important and then move along at a pace that is comfortable for us. We have to develop the maturity to stop trying to prove something. We have to learn to be content with what we are." ~Marjorie Pay Hinckley~

Labor Day Week

Going to the beach on Labor Day was an attempt to feel like we did something more than just lay around all weekend trying to get over colds & fevers. The convincing part for Jared came when I told him that now that HE was the sick one, he didn't have to do anything but just sit there in a beach chair. Not bad eh?  Our home teacher's family showed up too, so Jared the sick hung out with Heath the Lamed One, and had a ball while the ladies wrestled kiddos up and down the shore.  Did I mention how much I enjoy Lukas grabbing my hand and running toward the water to "chase waves" and look for sand crabs?  I love it, and feel grateful to be a mom whenever that little hand is holding mine.

The sunset on the way to the Young Women's IHOP Activity (individual help on progress) was so beautiful that I just had to snap a quick picture on the way up the hill.

The last two pics of the boys are so telling of their relationship-- "you can always lean on a dad" says one book we read to Lukas and he likes to quote it sometimes. He misses Dad a lot now that Dad has a "normal" 7-5 job (plus 2 hrs/night grading or preparing something). But we try to spend our times together as a family in memorable ways. Either a family walk, a restaurant visit, a hike, a swim, a park- doesn't matter as long as we're together.
