We women have a lot to learn about simplifying our lives. We have to decide what is important and then move along at a pace that is comfortable for us. We have to develop the maturity to stop trying to prove something. We have to learn to be content with what we are." ~Marjorie Pay Hinckley~

WE HAVE A COURT DATE FOR LUKAS' ADOPTION!!!

What a whirlwind of events!!! After one failed attempt in the rain to turn in our papers, Jessica went back on Wednesday, that time successfully. But what a downer, when they told her that the next available court date would be on November 25th!?! Especially since all of our family members had booked flights to be there on November 28th & 29th when we would take Lukas to the temple and have him blessed in church.
We urged our caseworker and the secretary at LDS Family Services to finish their reports as quickly as possible since we could not get a date before they were turned in. Today (Friday) I drove to Sacramento to pick up their papers in order to forgo US Postal Services and expedite the process. As I arrived at LDS Family Services, Margret placed the just finished reports in an envelope. A glance at the clock told me that I had 45 minutes to make it to the courthouse in Woodland. Anyone who knows what the freeway looks like at 3:15pm would share my dismay.
I called Jessica and asked for her prayers. With God speed- a formula-1-racecar driver would have had nothing on me- I made it to the courthouse, a prime parking spot awaiting me, with only ten minutes left to closing. I ran, well, I hobbled would be the more accurate but less glorious way to describe it, as fast as my sore Achilles tendon would permit me to the courthouse, up the stairs, and into the building. The security check did not slow me down much thanks to being well-conditioned from numerous airport visits. Down the stairs I flew, I stumbled, asked for the room 103, and made it there just in the nick of time. After waiting my turn, I turned in the remaining pieces to the adoption court date puzzle. Puzzled was also the lady behind the counter who could not recall the last time a case was pushed all the way to a hearing date in only a few days. After I received the confirmation that we would be seen in court, I could not hold back the biggest smile you have ever seen.
So boys and girls, mark your calendars for NOVEMBER 3RD 11AM!!! We want all of you and your moms to be there and take joy in the legal binding of our family bonds.

T.G.I.F.

I've just been out walking through all the gardens with Lukas. You should've seen the drool of amazement come on down as we crouched next to somebody's chicken coop watching the little fluffy chickens with big feathery clawlike feet cluck around as Lukas looked on with big excited blue eyes and the HUGEST grin on his little face. I guess that means he likes chickens! There were a few roosters out there that gave a good show with some morning crowing! YEAHYUH! We touched leaves, looked at pretty little trumpeted red flowers, huge bluish purplish bell flowers and saw a rabbit, some buzzards, and a few HUGE birds with at least 4 foot wing spans!

Now the little prince is sleeping. AHHhhh, and the dishwasher awaits unloading...after I finish the primary music posters!

Learn to live life...

The air was so fresh today! Lukas and I took one of as thousand walks we've taken through the neighborhood, looking at trees, and he wiggled like crazy with smiles at the new picture before his eyes- all the colorful leaves allllll over the ground!
Looking at the world around us from the perspective of a baby makes me walk slower, look more closely, get excited about things like tree bark- rough and brown, and sometimes mossy! I put leaves in Lukas' hands and we compare big, small, big, small as we take our walks. Another added bonus of all that vitamin D from the sunshine is that he's also tired when it's naptime, and he sleeps, well, like a baby! So if you're feeling left out of girl-groups, or get caught up in the facebook scene for too long, or find yourself pouring endlessly over other people's blogs and wonder why you weren't invited to that cool event where everyone else you know seemed to be, just take a chill pill, realize how much time you don't waste away from your kids and family, and be grateful for your beautiful family, your life that you in fact build within the walls of your OWN home, with your OWN children!! SO AWESOME ! Besides, life really begins when we live it for ourselves, and not through others, or to be sought after by others! I LOVE TODAY! The Halloween Party plans are just a rockin' and the Creche Festival Music Concert is mostly coming together, and the huge family party at Thanksgiving is being planned as I type! And I love that there's a huge stump behind our house from the mega-rainstorm carnage! And I'm glad Lukas is healthy, attached and soo stinkin happy! AND the laundry is in, grocery shopping done for the week, and gettin ready to make some killer pasta while Lukas gets to watch- strapped on and all. :) Love you Thusday! Please visit again soon!

It is still pouring buckets!! And guess who was out in it today like fools?? Oh yes! Oh, and the tree behind our house fell down!! I'm watching these guys in slickers with chainsaws feed it into a huge AND I MEAN HUGE chopping machine right now.. so awesome!!

Lukas got his first real dose of rain. He was a good sport about it, until we got home and he'd drifted off into dreamland, only to face a rude awakening of mom in a wet raincoat picking him up out of the car, only to be greeted with POURING rain. Poor kid. No wonder he's sleeping like a rock right now!

These are some of my favorite things...

I like to play with "Tausendfuessler" because he crinkles and squeaks and fits right into my grasp! I really like to look at myself in the mirror! I think I'm pretty handsome, or funny, cuz' I sure giggle a lot when I see myself! I like getting packages! I appreciate dad's good taste in clothes for me. He makes sure that I look cute, especially for church on Sunday! And look! I like to sit now too!! I go to soccer games with Mom & Dad. Dad coaches lots of kids from church now, and really likes it, especially since he can't play himself! I like to hear mom and dad read from the Bible or the Book of Mormon every night in German. I giggle when I hear words like Mulek. I adore my Tiger, and drool all over him so much that mom finally had to wash him. I also like to watch mom hang up the wash on the balcony. I can see her flowers and hear the birds chirping. It reminds me of the red bird in Brown Bear, Brown Bear. I like avacado. I ate it so happily and greedily that I was covered in green before I was through! I'm already a BYU Cougars fan! Mom and Dad even sing me the fight song! I like it when mom and dad read to me after every bottle. Brown Bear is DEFINITELY my favorite. Just hearing the title makes me smile and giggle.

Oh, and I still love to jump around!

6 months old today!

Yay Lukas! You're 6 months old today!
Since Sunday you're sitting on your own, even if only for a few seconds and with super close parental supervision!
You've eaten avocado and liked it, and you are growing so much! We go to the doctor next week to get more shots and see how tall you are!
General Conference weekend is coming, and it reminds me of the weekend we sat anxiously awaiting a call from your birth mom that you were finally here!
We sure are glad you're a part of our famiy :)

HAPPY HALF BIRTHDAY!! OCT 2nd!!
