We women have a lot to learn about simplifying our lives. We have to decide what is important and then move along at a pace that is comfortable for us. We have to develop the maturity to stop trying to prove something. We have to learn to be content with what we are." ~Marjorie Pay Hinckley~

5 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mom and Dad visited

From the 8th to the 18th, mom & dad came to Utah. They lived it up in Las Vegas (okay, they ate at a Vegas breakfast buffet!) and drove from the airport there up to Provo.
They saw some beautiful southern Utah landscape (slides later to come!)

...and we got to spend time with them at SNOBIRD! We'll post pictures when we get them from mom. We rode the summer Alpine Slide and the zip-line, and had a bout with a mechanical bull, rode a huge cable car up the mountain slope, and Amy and I went bungee-trampolining!!(It was harder than it looks and we have no pics of us doing that since it was just us, and we went at the same time!- besides, I'm sure they wouldn't have been flattering anyways! haha)

"Rrrrroar!!" was Michael's favorite thing to say as we looked at tons of fiberglass, naturally painted dinosaurs, which when hooked up to bionic engineering appeared to fight with each other and let out amazing prehistoric sounds that actually make one grateful to live in an era where bombs and missiles are more of a threat than these big beasts that could tear you in half and leave you somewhere half eaten but still alive.

...And here is THE REST OF THE STORY...

We really had a great time, and I got to experience Utah's public transportation on the way home. Let's just say it was very interesting. Thanks again dad & mom for a great time at the DINOSAUR PARK in Ogden Utah.

Weekend with the Fam

After packing our silver covered wagon with all our camping stuff & bathing suits, I picked up Jared from BYU and we headed to SLC to go camping with Joel & Amy, and their little boy, Michael. We got to Lagoon's campground in the early evening and quickly set up camp. We saw a ton of rams amongst the trees there, but not the type you might think. No- these rams were all hauling campers and trailers!! There were definitely more cars than trees, but we had a great time making brats & smores on the grill, and laughing at Michael.

It poured down rain at night, but luckily we stayed dry (yay for our tent!!) and enjoyed yummy Loehrmann camping breakfast of croissant rolls, sausage and applesauce!

Luckily, we scored BEAUTIFUL weather at Cherry Hill water park. We even got Michael on one of those slippery slides and enjoyed the sound of "WHEEEEEEE!" throughout the day! He'd kick those little legs down the lazy river, and had a great time in the tube with Jared, out of the tube with Jared, falling asleep on Jared and spinning with Jared. Did I mention Michael likes Jared? haha

... After all: Jared IS the pied-piper of little kids!

Food from the Gods!!

We ate the YUMMIEST foods on Pioneer Day at Provo's annual "Taste of the Valley" Event. First, Tucanos had amazing samples of their roasted pineapple, along with three types of meat! A few grill places had pulled pork sandwiches, and the Gelato ice cream place reminded us of Germany because it tasted so good! If you EVER get a chance to be in Provo on Pioneer Day, get to the ol' courthouse and sample the city!

PAVLOVA= a Russian Dancer AND my new favorite dessert! I broke down and watched KBYU last week, and the cooking show caught my eye because Amy makes this fantastic dessert- Pavlova- and I wanted to see how THIS lady makes it. I was impressed when she wielded a cake decorator's bag to get the merangue to look so fancy schmanzy, so I tried it. In the end it turned out specTACular.

Lederhosen Dance

So a few weeks ago, Alex tried on the Lederhosen from Germany, and here's what we got: Alex's Jig!Enjoy watching it sideways :)
