We women have a lot to learn about simplifying our lives. We have to decide what is important and then move along at a pace that is comfortable for us. We have to develop the maturity to stop trying to prove something. We have to learn to be content with what we are." ~Marjorie Pay Hinckley~

Jessica's Birthday!

Aww yeah! Another awesome birthday! On my breakfast plate were tickets to see Disney on ice! Jared got us 5th row tickets for the 14th. I was sung to by the entire school during morning meeting, and the kids brought me candies, balloons and little gifts, which was totally unexpected. I've never had a class be so excited about my birthday before! As I was in the middle of teaching writing class the phone in my room rang, and Simon, the "Operator" looked at me with disbelief as he reported after answering the phone, "He said he's a friend from Germany." I thought it was Jared prank calling during school, but turns out-- it was our friend Hayo Becks from Germany!! I was so shocked, as was he that the front desk would put him through to my classroom during school hours! As I hung up, so happy to hear from him, I was still amazed that he'd even called!

Later that day, as German club came to a close, in walked Jared with two armfuls of flowers for me! I was ecstatic! The girls were all jealous and to the men he was a hero. haha.

Jared drove me home and made me Raclette for dinner with our dinner group friends.

We even had brownie and chocolate pudding cake with candles!

After everyone left, Jared and I watched "The Brothers Lionheart" that he'd gotten me for Christmas. It's the movie of a German childrens' book he read to me after we got married. We really enjoyed it! What a great birthday!!
